Ok, i just tried this and i got the nvidia drivers installed. I got the control panel and everything for nvidia, so it must be in there and working.

Now i got a worse problem. When i use WINE and Beryl (the two programs that gave me black screens), now instead of getting blank screens, i get a blank screen and then i get shown to my login prompt, as if it logged me out or crashed and restarted X or something. Help? lol

I recommend not using wine much with Beryl, Beryl is still very unstable. I can never use any programs in wine with Beryl and I really can not run any games besides Nexuiz in Beryl.

I can't run any of them at all lol (they both "crash" my system).

i guess the simple answer would be don't run programs in wine while you have beryl running!

what progs is that you want to run in wine? there are plenty of alternatives out their and most are better than the windows equiv's imo?

I can't run either, as they both crash upon executing.

I was trying to run xfire through WINE. I heard there's some kind of GAIM/Pidgin plug-in. I'd use that but i think it had to be compiled or something and i never have any luck with that.

i think you probably want gfire then. check that your package manager doesn't already have it. if not they have an rpm on the download page which should work, if it doesn't then you should try compiling from source. if you end up having to compile all the instructions you need are in the install file. this thread might help aswell although its a little old.

Let us know how you get on, if you need any more help just post bk and somebody here will be able to sort it for you

I cannot remember where I got my plugin for Xfire on Gaim but it was not hard to install and get running, be sure to configure it and set it to the latest version of xfire (77).

iv'e never used it so i haven't a clue but reading the install file it seems that ./configure points to the wrong folder and it just a case of giving the correct --prefix.
