MOBO Question

Thread Starter
I have purchased 3 mother boards in the past month and I cant seem to get them to start.
I have built several computers so I have a pretty good knowledge of what I'm doing.
After I put the computer together I go to turn it on and it wont POST. The fans and everything else comes on but it wont do its beep or anything.
Am I doing something wrong, or am I getting real unlucky and getting dead boards?
CPU, RAM, HD and all that is new and compatible with the MOBOs.
Please help.

That indicates to me that it is not a mobo problem, most likely.

I suggest trying another PSU to see if your PSU is functioning properly.

Also your CPU may be dead, however as far as i know the system would still recieve power.

Also check your power switch on the case to see if it is faulty.

Then there is the possibility of your mobo shorting, so check that it is not grounding (make sure nothing metal is touching the case and that the spacers are inserted on the mobo)

Also check each stick of RAM at a time to see if it will boot.

Sorry, you didn't really narrow it down so i'm just giving a list of all the things to check.

I have a socket 939 Dual-Core AMD, 1 gig of corsair DDR 400 RAM, Aspire 500 Watt PSU, 7800 GT VC, seagate barracuda HD. The only thing I changed was the mobo of course, and it wouldnt POST, but it all still works on my old MOBO. MOBO is a JetWay 939 GT. I have also tryed a FoxConn and a ECS. Not brands I normally go with but 939 is getting hard to find.

I have built several rigs like I mentioned and have never had this problem. I'm wondering if for some reason I have all the sudden forgotten how to build a rig properly. I have also tryed some OCZ RAM different PSUs and different CPUs. I'm trying to upgrade my rig and build one for my wife so I have several extra parts to try. Hope this helps.

With DFI board you have the same problems once you start them up for the first time.

The solution is to put only one ram stick in the furthest slot from the cpu and start it up. once you get it to post you can shut down and insert the rest of the ram

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I was able to get it to work. The RAM I had bought was either bad or not compatible.
Although unfortunately I have run into a new problem.
While installing windows, when it gets to registering components it gives me the Blue Screen. The error messages is "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".
Does anyone know what this means?
The system info is:
AMD 64 1.9 Ghz 939 CPU
ECS KN1 Lite Nforce 4 MB
I used my Corsair XMS PC3200 DDR 400 RAM from my comp to fire it up(which works with my JetWay 939 GT, and MSI K8N Neo Platinum)
MSI NX7300LE VC
WD 160GB HD
Aspire 500w PSU
Any suggestions would be awesome.
