how do I go over?

Thread Starter
hi guys. I couldn't get my cpu to go over 2.9 ghz. right now I'm at 240 x 12 = 2.88. if I go over this then my comp freezes. bios show that its at 1.425v is it safer to go abover that with my cpu.
one more question relating fsb and multiplier. I tried 220x13 vs 240x12 and they both are same. but which one is the best way to go with less stress on my cpu.
thx in advance

220x13 puts "less stress" on your CPU (but you're overclocking!!!)

240*12 should yield better performance (good)

As for raising the voltage, check out your temperatures and work from there.

is it possible to go higher if I raise the voltage?

Whats the max MHz your memory will do? Also, how's you temps at 2.9GHz?

its stable at 1.46/7 according to AIbooster about my mem mhz I think its 200. mem timings are 3-3-3-8 at 2.8 but when I go into my bios I see memory clock at 100. once I changed it to 200 then my mobo fried
my system runs at 34 degs. cpu is idle at 35 degs and 44 at load

You're temps are good, you'll be able to go to about 1.45 to 1.5. Work in increments up until you get to about 48 load, then stop.

If you increase you're voltage, you should get a bit better OC.

I would use the 13x multi as that will make your OCing easier, less stress on the CPU. There is a little performance gain from higher bus speed, but my own theory is that the higher clock speed would be greater than whatever gain the higher bus speed could give you.

you might hit a higher clock speed at a lower mlti, this is what i had to do with my 146, try going to 12x or 11x and raising fsb to a higher level

Keep in mind that your CPU has a critical temperature of 65C. It should never even approach that number. And, remember that 48C load today could be different than the next day (where "load" could be over 50C).

Kick your multi down and up your FSB in 10mhz increments at a time. Run memtest #5 for 5 iterations b/w OC. Up your RAM voltage when you get errors. If upping the voltage doesn't work, loosen the timings. You should be able to find your max FSB this way. Once you start getting errors and loosening timings/upping the voltage doesn't change the situation, all you need to do is back off the FSB some and run memtest for 10-20 iterations of #5. Just do this until you find your max.

Got some DDR333 RAM all the way to DDR530 by doing this, it takes a while, but it's definitely worth it.
