Safe Overclock?

Thread Starter
Just wondering whether you guys think it is safe to leave my system running at this speed, I've heard it's best to go by the core temps, which aren't too high at around 52-53, but the CPU temp reported by asus probe goes as high as 65'C.

So should i put it down to stock speed before my new cooler arrives, or is it fine to leave it like this,

Thanks

What's your vcore in BIOs? Your temps are way too high for that clock. That's my load temps for my E6400 @ 3.2Ghz

It is possible to overclock while devolting.

That's fine, but don't push it any higher.

EDIT: Hold on are those load or idle temps. I assumed they were load.

They are load temps, and vcore is set to auto, and the high temp is probably to do with the bad intel cooling. I have ordered an AC freezer 7 pro which should arrive on tuesday.

Rep+ for the help

Ya, that's a low overclock, if you want to go any higher be sure to bump up the vcore and you might have to loosen up your ram timings.

When overclocking the CPU, it is not recommended on settnig the vcore to auto. For my processor, 1.35vcore is default. I can however hit 3.2Ghz with 1.26vcore. So at your 2.3Ghz at the moment, you can probably run around 1.20 vcore. That would help you reduce your temps a lot.

Before you do so! When you set your vcore down, restart and your computer won't turn back on, reset CMOS.

Resetting CMOS:
1. Locate a circular battery on your motherboard
2. Remove that battery
3. Let it sit there for a minute.
4. Replace the battery and boot back up.

This will clear your BIOS and put it back into default settings.

Too late with the advice, it did refuse to boot, however it has this CPR thing which detects failed overclocks and takes you into the bios. I have set a 1.275V vcore now and i have my CPU running at 39'C fully loaded! and 47'C on each core, this is at 2520MHz How much further do you think i can push it?
