The purpose of overclocking to to make your CPU faster but keep the ram speed the same as your FSB???
I started to overclock on 1:1 ratio and my comp wouldnt let me because of voltage changes. So I set it to 3:2 ratio(the next step) and started overclocking the processor. However, my ram speed went down to 740mhz instead of 800mhz. So now my processor is at 2.ghz and my ram went to 760ish mhz. Does this sound right for the ram to be falling behind? Is that what usually happens or does ram speed keep up with FSB all the time?

Also, at 2ghz running orthos test. The CPU is anywhere from 47-51c. Why so hot already?

Well, you choose 3:2 ration so it should be fine, and those temps...because of the voltages?? And maybe a bad cooler/airflow?

Stock cooler?
What's Vcore at? (Has alot to do with temps)
Use Speedfan and Coretemp (read temps from Core0 and Core1 NOT CPU)

iirc keep temps under 60c and you'll be good, also if you're already hitting 50c+ then you might want to reseat your hsf, unless you have really high vcore.

Indeed, reseat CPU cooler, it is a good cooler so I don't know why the temps are so high. Reseat it, make sure you have a good airflow in your PC and don't use too much paste.

What are your voltages?

the CPU voltage is the same as VCORE right?
The CPU voltage stayed at 1.35. I started to get small screen glitches when entering the bios at 2ghz so I went and upped the cpu voltage a notch and then my computer wouldnt boot. I just need someone to sum it up really quick.
I go into bios, I set the ram-cpu to 3:2( or is 5:4 better?) Then I up the fsb 5mhz. I then boot into windows. when something goes wrong, I up the cpu voltage one notch and try it again? or up the ram and cpu voltage 1 notch?

I and like most others around here would agree each system is different. To "Sum it up" real quick wouldn't be the best way to go abouts Overclocking especially if it's your first time.

There's lots of great reading to do around here just Make sure your comfortable before you try to O/c. Sense your asking these questions I don't think you really know what your doing.

I'm sure read this right?:The Ultimate Overclock.Net Guide Compilation.

I have a similar problem lol I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing so I stay away from overclocking for the time beeing, but when I understand what I'm reading it's going to be a fun experience

Ok, I guess I will wait. But all of these things i read dont really tell me the things that im looking for, Like:
Do you want ram and FSB to be the same speed? or get them as close as possible? What do the ram cpu ratios like 1:1, 3:2.5:4 mean?
