Of course, if you like wasting money just so you can type a few letters/numbers in your sig to impress a bunch of people you've never even seen face to face, then fine. Now if you actually have a real justification for a faster cpu such as video encoding(or if you game at 1024 and want to get 476fps to impress your buddies), then you have made a smart purchase. Such as my media PC in the living room with a C2D. Now when I put my 8800GTS into that system vs. my 3600+ do you think I get higher framerates?

The "GET A SEE TOOH DEE" crowd has cost a lot of unwitting beginners asking for advice a lot of money just for the sake of justifying their own purchase. Not many people have a good grasp on this for some reason.

That was a suggestion for someone looking for a super low budget rig...At the beginning he was looking at 2x7300s and a C2D, and I pointed out that he could get a GTS for that price if he just got a 3600 instead of C2D. I hate it when people just tell others to spend more money without backing up statements with logical evidence/facts.

This is madness!!!

Gonna get a Q6600 in a couple months when they're $266 -- Intel IS dropping prices like mad. They may still crush AMD. Currently though, you could get a 3600+ for $50 and crush a lot of C2D rigs if you OC it nicely.

AMD is fighting a guerrilla war now. They don't have the tanks, but they have desperate tactics.

*sigh*

And still I remain an AMD fanboy. With an intel rig, waiting for an intel upgrade.

Man the fanboys came out of the woodwork with there irrational statements and there mommys money for this post. I have a cheap ass rig cost me around three hundred for cpu mobo and ram. and tic for tac, what in the world are you little rich kids using your uber leet rigs for, the same thing I am and mine works just as well just as fast. There are no crazy intensive apps out there that require all that juice but "ooohz I gets a rielly highz 3dmark scorez I am da 1337 indavid u all" My crap rig browses the internet, plays any game, runs any os and can run any software I choose and now I have plenty of left over moneys for important things like pop rocks.
