Unhappy with P5W DH Deluxe

Thread Starter
Hi, I am new here and I just want to say the hthe P5W is totally a waste. I have my system stable for a couple of month @ 400fsb with my e6600 1:1 ram vmch 1.5 vfsb 1.4 vich 1.2. The cpu was on water with 1.5 vcore for the past couple months and lately my oc start to act funny. So i back the oc a bit to 3.4 and it was happy for two weeks. Then it act funny again and now i back to stock and everything went fine again. I tested my ram, changed my cpu and video card. I even use the optional fan on the heat pipe that asus provided. I searched other forums and there is a number of people with the same mobo and they have similar problem as me (overclock decreasing). Many people think that it was casue by the nb is overheating and the heat pipe not good enough for this nb. The P5W is dying on me, which means i need another board.

Well, I have my old p4p800 se that does that to the same to me too and i am hoping asus would solve the problem with the new 775 board but i guess not. Yes that can oc very high but not very long and it will slowly decreasing. I guess I might go to other brand instead of keep on getting asus board.

I highly doubted it will hold it for long even i keep the oc low. Even at stock my rig freezes in the middle of the game. I am pretty sure it's not the video card also. I see a lot of people with gigabyte board and I am thinking getting the p35 series board. Anything i should worry about for the gigabyte?? I heard they have some good things about their heat pipe system.

funny, I had the same problem. I use to be able to hit 4GHz on air with my P5W, but now, it can't go anywhere past 400MHz FSB.

If you RMA your board for a replacement, be sure to pick up an aftermarket cooler for the NorthBridge and MOSFET's. Keeping those components cool will help prolong the lifespan of your motherboard.

I was using the 1707 bios and then the problem came, so i upgraded to 2004 and still didn't fix the problem.

As for rma, I don't know. Never had any board rma b4. So i just call asus up and tell them the board is acting funny and my oc decreasing . What will be a good reason for rma?

Let them know that you are having stability problems and that you have check other components (I assume you have). Good luck.

I'd suspect you have a stick of RAM dying, or caps on the motherboard that are starting to die.

Most likely it's your RAM though
