DDR 500 in A8N32-SLI Deluxe made for ddr400

Question, Thankfully this MB allows you to overclock your memory to 250Mhz, I got up to 233 on my DDR400 but OCCT kept failing the burn test.

If I buy ddr 500 itll speed down to ddr400 when I speed it up, so I will need to go into the bios and overclock it to its normal level of 250

When you overclcok memory, of course it will stress the memory, but if I use ddr500 this wont be the case, however will this stress the memory controller? Which I believe is in the cpu itself along with the northbridge right? So I would still need to upgrade cooling for the cpu anyway just to boost the memory right?

i dont believe you would have to do anything special cause the fsb determines the memorys frequency with the divider. So if you ran it at its normal of 250 then i dont think it would increase temps for the cpu.

No you will be fine if you just select the ram speed of 250.

Well like I said, I dont need to do anything to the fsb or multiplier or anything, theres a seperate setting just for the ram that I can use without oc'ing anything else.

But with the fx-60 the NB and the memory controller are in the cpu, so i would think it stress something a little at least.

ddr 500 is still on sale for over 200 though, which is sad considering everything is ddr2 and next year will be ddr3, I hate how people dont mark down prices for older tech.
