Correct. Socket F is for newer Opterons. Socket FX is for 4x4 and allows normal DDR2 to be used.

what the hell are you talking about? Stock is clearly 2.2-2.4ghz from that chart. Not to mention i'm sure it will have much less overhead than the core 2 line in OCing.

I don't see how AMD is in any state at the moment to set the prices aggressively either.

The L2 sizes are also meager compared to the Core 2 Quads and even the Core 2 Duo's

You're just mad because you're saving up for a C2D rig and these processors will blow yours out of the water.

lol j/k. Honestly, the only thing that AMD can develop over what Intel has out right now is better/faster communication between the 4 cores.

And from what I've heard, their quad cores that they're testing right now, they're having problems running them over like 2.0GHz. I'm not sure if it was this archeticture, but it was in the news section a few days ago.

L2 sizes barely mean anything in today's real world apps. On the c2d an extra 4mb makes 5 - 10% in performance. On an Amd it is less than 5%.

AMD's architecture has always been less depended on cache than the Intel process. Just because the L2 is a lot less does not mean it will be slower. Plus, the K10 has L3 shared between all cores. This could prove to be a huge advantage. You are probably right about the OC overhead though, but that is due to the memory controller, which has always been better and more efficient than Intel's.

you heard correctly but that was the barcelona (opteron quad) i havnt seen evidence to suggest that for the any of the other amd quad processors.

@ coltsrock and liermam 3.6GHz is a reference to HTT3.0 which is AMDs equivilant(sp) to Intels FSB
