Huh... thats strange, Ive seen elaborate "squeegy" processes to spread the stuf around.

Me I just sort of splurch the stuff on and spread it out sort of evenly with the tip of the tube. Works, temps are never above 60 at full stress test...a little e6300 @ 3.4 Ghz...

Oh Ya, you probaly won't find artic silver at Comp usa. If you do it will be twice the price. Heres one on line http://jab-tech.com/Thermal-Compound-c-52.html , gang it up with some other bits and bobs and It will offset the shipping cost.

Good luck

I was thinking of returning this one and getting the 900 when I get back to Kansas tomorrow. God willing I can find all of my manuals and stuff for this case, so I can return it.

Also, what is a good temp monitoring program? I have this Everest, but it has my cpu jumping around so much I am hard pressed to be 100% faithful in the program's accuracy. Just now I see a 53c...oh wait, now it is at 66c. Back to 52c, then 71.

you need to download core temp,

or google intel TAT download <- intel's thermal analysis tool

also it sounds like your heatsink is no longer having a good contact with the cpu, you need to clean it with alcohol or something and use lint free stuff (like coffee filter) and let it dry competely (alcohold dries quickly but not super quick) then put less than a gram of rice of arctic silver in the middle. when you put the heatsink on top, it will spread out.

Alright. So, I went and got the arctic silver. I then applied said rice grain sized amount. I also added a new fan and hid the cords. Then I turned on my system and am getting the same readings. 31c on the cpu core #0 from Core Temp, and the usual 52c from Everest. The conclusion for me is that one of them is jacked up.

I've heard of people spreading it to about 1.5cm from the edge of the chip then having the heatsink do it...

My temps went up when I lapped my processor/hsf... too much AS5 methinks.

I downloaded a TAT. However, since it is an Intel will it still work with AMD? I tried tor un, and the program gave me some "incompatible processor" message. Core Temp gave me 49c in the middle of running BF 2142 and then came down to 37c.
