Do you need a 'vista ready motherboard' to run vista, or will any mobo with fast enough hardware run vista just fine?

No you don't - They are just a gimic to say that all the drivers are certified for Vista.

I have a non vista ready mobo and It runs Vista fine

TBH - Most of the non "Vista Ready" Mobos are better than the Vista ready ones

Not quite.... You need check if the motherboard has Vista chipst drivers. I know that nVidia will never produce Vista motherboard drivers for nForce 2. However, almost all recent motherboard (newer than 3 yrs) should have them.

And jsut to confirm i run Vista with a non Vista ready board.

Just look on manufacturers site for drivers, quite a few XP ones work on Vista anyways
