what happen with my lovley x1900XT if DX10 games hitting shops..

G'day

I was just wondering what will happen by time DX10 Games hitting the Shops. Hopefully I do not have to chuck my lovely x1900XT in the bin. Maybe it exists the chance to flash the Bios to get a DX10 Card out of it?. The Architecture would handle the next gen games so is there any chance to keep it….

By the time DX10 games are in full motion, the 1900XT will be a mid-low end card anyway.

You will still be able to play games for quite some time. There won't be a game out there that is DX10 only for quite some time (with the possible exception of Halo 2 for Vista and maybe Shadowrun) Even with DX10 games you should be able to play them...just not with all the eye candy.

And no. There is no way to flash the bios to get a DX10 card out of that.

the architecture changed... not anything soft coded. If you want to play DX10 games, then you will have to get a new card (not that many games will support DX10 and DX9). You will still be able to play games for the next... year/year.5, but not at max settings.

Oh, and don't throw the GPU away.... make a new rig and fold with it
