Memory woes

Thread Starter
I have an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluce MB, with an AMD Anthlon FX-60 cpu, 2gb {2x 1gb} of DDR PC-3200 OCZ Dual Channel with a latency of 2-3-2-5, a 200gb c-drive, 400gb d-drive, 2 dvd burners, and 2 PNY GeForce 7600 GS 512mb video cards run in SLI config.

My problem is, I purchased a 2nd pair of OCZ ram, and when i put in the 2nd pair, the computer acts wierd. sound doesn't work right, and when i try to open certain applications such as Lord Of The Rings Online it crashed to the "Blue Screen of Death" does the "memory dump" and reboots.

I know my original RAM is fine, and this 2nd set is actually an RMA set FROM OCZ, so I know they're ok,.. any ideas?

Yes, this is a property of the onboard (in the CPU) memory controller. To run more than 2 sticks, timings need to be loosened and/or memory speed dropped.

Firstly, set command rate to 2, or 2T.
If that doesn't work, play with memory divider to get memory speed down to about DDR333.
If that doesn't work either, set timings to 3-3-3-8.

it could be one of the new sticks is FUBAR or the mobo hasnt given enough voltage so maybe up the voltage a tiny bit

I'm thinking it's possible my old ram might not be stable or is running improperly.

I purchased the new Memtest 86 Version 3.3 for $10 online.

Wish me luck.
