7600 Gt Idle Temps / Oc???

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I recently had some problems with my PC freezing up so I started checking the temps and I haven't cleaned my rig for a while so it was all dirty and slow. Anyhow, Cleaned it up and put some AS5 on the stock HSF for the video cards but my idle temps are up i the 52-55!

I have a 3DFuzion 7600GT and an eVGA 7600GT on SLI, and they both read around the same temp with a few degrees different on the 3DFuzion.

I was wondering if this is even possible to OC this or should I get some VGA coolers on the cards before attempting to OC? I haven' had a chance to log the temperatures on load but I am thinking it's pretty high. I thought a good clean and AS5 would lower the temps some but it's been the same. Any ideas?

I am currently using the 93.71 force ware drivers because the new 94.24 aren't signed for some reason on my system and has some bad FPS when I play WoW.

So, as a wrap, what is the ideal idle temp / load temp because I've been reading a lot of different numbers?

Thanks!

If your temps are that high at idle definetly get coolers on them and I have the same drivers you do I think and they are OK haven't tryed the 94.24s yet. My temps are 40-49c idle and 52-56c load with my cooler and thats in a room that is about well 80.3 F right now at 1 in the afternoon!

Thanks Rick.

I noticed you have the eVGA 7600 GT KO, did your temps go down when you put the Zalman cooler on it? Because that is the exact cooler I was thinking of getting, but for 25 bucks a pop I hope it fits on both the GPU's!

I hit 670 core 1684 mem without aftermarket cooling and without a voltmod. It idles high (57) but doesn't pass mid 70's. When I get a VF900, i'm going to change that

I tried using RivaTuner / nTune to up the frequency on mine to 603 and kept the memory constant but it just crashes...

Does the nTune log save if your system crashes or does it have to complete the cycle? I want to see if it's because of temperature or what factor is preventing me from doing the O/C.
