Is 1gb of ram ok for a budget gamer? - Page 5

I have only 1gb, and I've only had like 1 game need more than that...so I'm sure you can get away with it.

Ok, no problem (although Mushkin is hardly a known manufacturer in PSU land... RAM yes, PSUs... nope).

JG is only one of the sources I use... and even their lists are not 'perfect' (sometimes contradicting their own reviews... why is the PC Power & Cooling 1000W first tier and the Silverstone OP1000 third tier, while in a direct shootout the Silverstone gets the better score). Regarding powerconsumption, I definately consider the X1950PRO a 'mid range' or even 'budget' card.

I don't blindly follow their lists. There are other sources.

Antec switched OEM (not it's Seasonic), so yes, the core parts are better. But still, room for improvement, given that the Antec Truepower Trio FAILED the JG review at high loads/temps.

The fact that the Goodpower isn't listed might very well be that JG didn't 'officially' test it. Dave did, and he recommends it. Again, there are more sources than just JG, and dave is one I trust.

Additionally, if you dig around at the manufacturers website you'll find the 450w rated PSU from FSP has a maximum 29A limit on the 12v rails & a total PSU limit of 32A (385w) on all the rails combined hardly 450w
Again, I refer to Dave's recommendation. he XCLIO Goodpower is good quality and imo powerful enough for a low- to midrange rig like this. Ok, I give you the FSP specs, although the total Wattage is a bit more, since the 385W is only 12V+3.3V+5V

We basically are close to completely agreeing

If Jonny says it's good, it's good. This guy is pretty much the final say on PSU quality.

The JG lists have been updated within the last 48 hours or so IIRC (but the Good Power remains unrecommended), keep in mind JG isn't the only individual who submits PSU reviews over there, has Dave referred this product/recommendation to him yet?

Additionally, Antec's IMHO try to offer a quieter PSU by using low RPM fans in their products, this can be a double edged sword especially when used in warm/hot environments

True but if you include the remaining sources supplied it's only rated at an additional 2A (approx) which is what? 24w still falling far the supposed 450w rating, if only PSU manufacturer's could use a standard method of labeling/rating their PSU's that'd make life for DIY'ers and enthusiasts easier

I still personally believe the Enermax recommended would be a better choice, I mean like the X1950pro sucks about 65 ~ 70w (5.8A) but who knows what card (and ancillories) will be going in there next, easier to upgrade a card than a whole PSU/GFX combo

If you look at the author of that particular review, you'll notice it's not actually JonnyGuru... it's madmat, and one good Rosewill reviewed unit doesn't automatically necessarily mean all Rosewill's are good, I'll quote JonnyG once again...

How much are you paying for the X1950pro?

Does he plan to overclock?

Good.

7900GS- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130056

Cheaper, and when overclocked (EASILY hit 600/800. Thats the KO edition so its pretty cool. 33% overclock without trying all that hard.) it will pwn the X1950pro.
