AM2 X2 3800+ wont go over 2.3ghz, why? - Page 2

i have lowered my HT to 3x since i last got verified...i have tried lowering it even to 2x but i still get no post above 2.7

u could do what i did, try lowering cpu multi to 9x cus my mobo didnt like the 10x multi very much, wudnt post past 2.5.

with the 9x multi i can hit 3Ghz, but temps are a tad high.

Wow......2.9 from an X2 3800 Toledo???? Dude I am in awe.....that's sweet! I'm guessing 3Ghz+ would be possible with better cooling?

yeah, i booted at 3Ghz with 1.5vcore, but temperatures wer at 42 idle and loading was going over 55 so had to lower speed and vcore. Need a better cooler.

sheesh....I never thought 3Ghz was even possible on those CPU's....never believed they had that much headroom....that's fantastic! and you can pick them up now for so cheap too!
