Opteron 165 LCBQE GOAL: 3GHz - Page 3

Thread Starter
OK, I found the real problem! My motherboard hates dividers. The only RAM voltages available are 2.6v, 2.7v, 2.9v, and 3.23v (3.23v is a jumper setting). This RAM and CPU are an awesome combo, and I won't give the RAM up until I know how good it really is.
I'll be updating my upgrade thread with a new motherboard solution, after I get some suggestions here:

I know this thread is like 1 week old, but I got the exact same stepping Opteron 165 just a week or so ago.

I got this thing to 3 GHz @ 1.35v.

Validation: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=211721

It's only stable for booting Vista and screen-shots + validation.

I'm currently running 2.81 GHz @ 1.35v.

I just picked up an OPTY 170 off of the Egg. Stepping is LCBQE, After reading this thread looks like I got a good stepping. Anyone else out there know about this stepping?

EDIT

This seems to be a new stepping.

or you can just put the 1.5vcore on it and push that baby to 335mhz x9 and divide your ram to your likings.. To be honest ive never heard of this stepping but i can get 3ghz yet just 2.99!

Right now I'm at 280 x 10 at stock volts on the LCBQE. Here is a screen of cpu-z and Ortho's running.

OK, 230FSB is the max for this motherboard, I think... I have an OCZ PSU in the mail, and that should help with stability at 2.9v. I think this PSU wasn't giving enough volts to ANYTHING. I'm pretty sure the Northbridge was at 1.13v

These things are tricky. Mine was stable at 2.8 at stock volts but started falling flat immediately after that. I bumped it up to 1.42 just to get 2.85 stable, so I left it at 1.42 and went back to 2.81 since the temps are still okay. Just in case (cuz I'm too lazy to do a 12 hour orthos run and whatnot).
