Help with C2D HTPC build please!

Hi everyone, someone has requested me to build a HTPC for them but, i have never built one before so, please help me get together a parts list...everything...

use this case: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811163033

it has to use C2D
4GB ram as a minimum
min of 500GB HDD space
good video card with DVI or HDMI
DVD/CD RW multi drive...
yadda yadda yadda...PSU, Mobo etc etc etc...

Whatever makes the best HTPC will win but, keep it cheap...

Thanks,
GM

Try to keep the price at 2000 or so please... its okay if it goes +/- 200 or so

lol..3rd post in a row *oops*

uhh..this is directly from the buyer

"Basically, this PC will be hooked up to my plasma for web surfing, and doing windows media type stuff (listening to music, playing movies). I'm not a gamer or into video editing. So, keep the stuff in the mid range. I don't need WIFI because it will sit next to my router. The most important thing for me is that it's quiet and that the DVI/HDMI will work with my TV. "
NOTE: so, like he said, keep it cheap as possible while still looking good and performing well for his needs...

2000 dollars!!!!???

Holy crap dude, if you cant build a TOP of the line HTPC for 400 to 600 bucks, something is waaaay wrong.

First, don't buy am HTPC front end, theres mad amounts of free ones out there. My two favorites are MediaPortal (preffered) and GB-PVR

Well, if he uses XP, it will only recognize 3 gigs, make sure he knows that, lol.

Did you see my edit up above?

You can use quality cheap parts and it'll run beautifully. In other words, you dont have to buy a 775 board with a 965 chipset, just so long as it supports RAID (IMO opinion at least.)
