I don't see him needing anything more than that for as long as he plays videos at that resolution... 1080p, easily surf the net.. anything more would be a waste of money for what he's using for imo.

he could easily use a pentium rig with 512mb of ram and barely feel a difference for an htpc

Lol..just emailed him..he wants somethign that he can keep for a long while. He says he dosnt upodate often (he's had his lappy for 5 years and his desktop for 8 years)

I have 64 ultimate...still nothing much more than XP, especially for HTPC needs.
Besides that 64 bit programs running on it, 32 and 64 vista is essentially the exact same thing. Except you have to go through annoying process to turn off driver signing requirements.
