x1950 Pro 512 AGP

Thread Starter
With my setup I am getting less than 20fps in the Spider Man 3 game at med settings and 1280X1024 ? In Company of Heroes and Command & Conquer 3 I get avg 30+fps, and in Supreme Commander I get between 20-30fps.

Question: Should I see better fps if I upgrade my mobo and get a decent OC? If I upgrade my mobo I will most likely upgrade to a PCI-E card, looking to spend under $350.

What CPU do you really have? As far as I know theres no way you can have a Core 2 Duo and an AGP graphics card because theres no AGP motherboards for the C2Ds.

Actually there are a few C2D AGP mobo's out there.

I ran driver cleaner and installed new drivers and got slightly better FPS

and the one I finally get my hands on Friday has C2D + AGP...Something must be up though, 20+ FPS in Spidey 3 with your rig seems ridiculously low, although I have never played SpiderMan 3 before...I hope my new C2D + AGP rig is getting better FPS than that, or I'll be ditching my x1950 GT AGP pretty quick!

I'm not entirely certain, but I don't think you have inadequate hardware. For most current games, the AGP version of the x1950pro keeps up with the pci-x version--so it doesn't seem like moving to a pci-x board would matter. Have you made sure to reinstall drivers first? are you using catalyst or a 3rd party driver? If 3rd party, just go with the latest catalyst to see if that helps. But I agree--something is amiss. But I don't think going to a pci-x mobo will help. Are you on XP or Vista?

make sure when supplying power to the card you use 2x spearate leads from the psu and spread the load if you need to have other components on the leads.

and if you still have problems unplug all coponents that you dont need pluged in to boot the system and test it in a game for 5 mins.

like use 1 hard drive with the os unplug all extra fans neons optical drives etc
