hey. i can get another gig of the same ram (see specs) for about $40 canadian, my question is, how much of a boost in performance do you all think i would get. im really thinking my RAM is a bottleneck to the rest of my system but im not sure exactly. would you think the 40 canadian is worth the improvement in performance?

RAM is always a great cheap boost of performance, if you can get it go for it.

The instant that I added another 1GB stick to my system, I saw an instant performance increase. It will be noticeable in games as well. I used to lag/freeze , stutter and low frame rates in a demanding game, but after I installed another stick in dual channel, lag/freeze and stuttering is gone. It's smooth with low frames.

1GB for $40 in Canadian is pretty good. Will it be the same RAM you currently have?

yea, i heard that if i get better Ram its performance will be dragged down to the level of the slower ram, is that right?

Correct. Say you have a 667Mhz RAM. If you add a 800Mhz RAM with the 667Mhz, the 800Mhz will run at 667Mhz.
