so confusing

Thread Starter
ive had this computer since January and recently i noticed that lots of progrmas arent reading my second core..cpu-z v1.39 reads that i have a dual core e6300 processor but at the bottom, the core selector is grayed out, and in taskmanager, only one cpu graph is shown. i checked in biod and both cores are enabled..sorry if this is noob but its somewhat annoying me.

Here's mine.

You may want to look into this.

Task manager is showing you usage for both cores, I dont have a newer version of CPUZ, but they may have upgraded for multi core. I also have a E6300, and usually the second core only kicks in under multi tasking - High usage conditions. so if your machine is messed up so is mine...

My settings above have been the same as always without the dual core patch. SMP, which folds on both cores, foldings normally at 100%.

NeedGoodHardware, you may want to look into some programs that would use both cores and see if you can reach 100% CPU usage.

If you are into folding, you could try either the smp (Does that run on Media Center Ed.?) or you could try running two instances of console for windows. If your second core has issues the second instance of console wont run.
