Optimize time.

Thread Starter
Ok guys, I want to make my computer run faster with out upgrading. I cant oc my cpu or ram. SAD. But im the kind of person who like to squeze the Maximum preformance out of my computer...suck it dry.

First. What settings should I use overclocking my GFX card, It oc's good. Should I have higher memory or core? it goes to about 600MAX core. and about 490 MAX memory...per ram module (there are 2).

Second for my GFX card what are good drivers to use? Im hoping to gain speed without loosing much quality.

Now to my cpu, in sisandra it says that my SMBIOS/DMI information may be incorrect. When ever I use a tool to detect my specific motherboard model it only says that its an asus narra. So I dont know what bios/chipset drivers to update it with.

What is Volt modding? Can I do if even tho my psu cant even 100% power my gfx card as it is?

All help is greatly appriciated.

sounds like u ahve a pre-built rig.

i always use ATiTool for OCign GPUs but if it doesn't support ur 8500gt use coolbits.

the reason why it detecs ur mobo wierd is probably because it's prebuilt, or the data isnt in the database for that program....

realistically w/o OC'n or anything(considering ur PSU is teh suxorz) i'd say the best thing is to back-up all ur importatn data and reinstall windows. tehn reinstall the bare nessisities: office, firewall, anti-virus software, anti-spyware, etc... then start putting back on ur other stuff... enjoy, hope i helped

Do you have the dual core optimizer installed? That causes problems for some people.

Do you know for sure that your gfx card is underpowered? If you're going by the rating on the gfx card itself, they way over rate those to make up for people that have crap PSUs.

Post your PSU specs, that could help. You can overvolt it if your PSU has extra juice left, but if it's a crap PSU, I'd suggest spending $50-$70 on a good PSU which will make OCing so much easier.

You can OC the vid card for sure, maybe also the rest but it depends. As far as the gfx card is concerned download ATI TOOL (free) and click find max core and find max mem. I reckon the 8500GT should be able to OC on stock cooling at least up to around 650/450 GPU/mem.

BTW, why do you say you can't OC the CPU?

You should be able to OC the CPU somewhat anyways. Have you tried or are you just guessing? Just keep the HT and temps in line and you'll be fine for an OC as long as you have voltage and timing controls.

Sorry, but could you post your FULL PSU specs? Who makes, the model, the amp ratings on all the rails?

If you want good gfx card drivers, just download the newest forceware drivers and you should get a decent performance boost. The 8800s are the main one benefiting from the new drivers but the other 8 series card are still getting a decent amount of help from what I've heard.
