Its at 2.9Ghz fulkly stable with 1.5Vcore, god i love this cpu...and it will post at 2.95 but temps were a bit high for my liking... so backed it down to 2.9...this is a beast...

on air temps are 35C idle and 48-49C full load

verification...
2.9Ghz 3800+ x2....

thanks for the replies guys, im liking this chip loads, ithought my board was bad cuds no matter how hard i tried i cudnt get my 165 or 146 past 2601Mhz, but seems both were just bad overclockers. Ive booted at 3Ghz but temps seemed bit too high.

What can i do apart from taking off IHS to lower temps? new cooler?

only reason i dont want to remove the IHS is cus i killed my 165 by doing that, and my 146 doesnt make proper contact with the hsf now i removed it to test. or can anyone tell me how to modify my retention bracket to lower hsf to naked core?

Lapping both your IHS and your HSF's base often results in a noticeable improvement in temperatures. I'd say it's a lot less risky than removing the IHS! And it's not difficult. Lapping just takes some elbow grease and patience and proper technique.

Check out the Cooling subsection of the forum. There are plenty of threads there on lapping.

Good luck, and hope this info helps!

yeh, i had lapped my 146 and hsf before, re-lapped my hsf the other day when i attemprted to remove my 165 IHS, so thats nice and smooth, should lap the x2 soon, thanks rep+

my 146 was only 38 load with 1.6vcore :O
my 165 was pretty cool too but never lapped that,
