Just ordered this rig, how far should I push it?

Here's the build (not including misc bits like optical drive)

C2D e6320

Gigabyte P965 DS3

Team Elite Cheapo RAM 2X1GB PC26400

Nvidia Geforce 8500GT

Antec NSK4400 Mini Tower Case - 380W SmartPower PSU

Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

----

My aunt wants it for basic web surfing and document creating. I suggested an el cheapo rig for far cheaper but they were adamant on spending atleast £400 (when I first showed them a build with a e4300 they said, "make it cost more".

Anyway, because it will not see a game til it's relegated to one of her kids in a few years I chose an 8500GT, it's overkill but so is the C2D.

I'm also OCing it a little, hence the aftermarket cooling. I know I don't have the best RAM for a 7x multiplier and the PSU is a little shoddy so I'd like to know how far I should take it? I was planning to try for 2.6 without changing volts, but that may be a little ambitious.

Will I be limited by the PSU/RAM or should I just go as far as the CPU will let me, increasing volts if needs be?

Woo, I can't wait!

Really bad choice for just doing what she wants to be doing, but I guess it isn't your fault. Ram should be fine but i'de reccomend a descent reliable 400W PSU .

I know it's a bad choice, she's used to prebuilts and has the idea that she needs to pay loads for a PC that'll do what she needs. Atleast my cousins will score a half decent gaming rig with the addition of a midrange video card in a few years.

My aunti liked that case and said she wanted it, I know the PSU aint great but this isn't the most demanding system power consumption-wise.

You're not going to be able to OC it that far with a 380 watt power supply, but just try slowly going up to 400mhz front side bus with a 1:1 ram divider and keep the voltage stock. Voltage is really what makes an overclocked system draw more power and if you keep the voltages stock, you should be fine.

Once you get to 2.8ghz (400x7), you can try lowering the voltage, and maybe get a nice power saving rig set up that runs almost as fast as an X6800.

Just an update; I have it clocked at 2.8ghz on stock volts.

Orthos been running for 3 hours so far how much longer should I run it for? Overnight?

---

The case works really well with a artic cooler freezer 7 pro, there is a 120mm fan pulling air out about an inch away from the HS which is pushing air the same way. I may convince my aunt to buy a 90mm fan to go where the air duct to the stock intel cooler went just to draw a bit more air in.
