My friend wants a Macbook, tell him why he shouldn't! - Page 2

Best thread responses EVER. I'm impressed.

The G1S, however, is a solid notebook all around. If I had a choice, I'd get that over a Macbook or Macbook Pro. And I need OS X daily.

Gaming or not, I would show him the G1S-A1 so he's aware of it.

Good luck!

My friend has a macbook pro and that thing games fine. It also is one of the best laptops I had ever used. And he runs xp not osx. It is full of good features that make it much better than a pc based laptop.

Right Cerbera. So, I ask again...what makes a Macbook better? There are so many Windows-based laptops and tablets out there...choose one! At the moment (I check laptop specs and prices about once a week...thinking about college here), Toshiba and Gateway actually seem to have the best bang for buck laptops.

many reviewers have said that macbooks are the fastest one you could get (not gaming tho) for Windows XP/Vista

Is he a gamer? Answer that question then I will tell him my honest, unbias opinion on what he should get.

I apologize because I thought we were talking about the Macbook Pro. However, the Pro costs near $2,000 and I'm sure there’s a notebook out there that is much more cost efficient.

Now that I'm clear with that, the Macbook doesn't seem to be a great buy at $1600. For a little 13", there’s got to be better deals out there.

To answer your question, I really don't know. I still don't know and I have been trying to find the answer for a VERY long time. People have always said Macs are better, but better at what? Some people say it prevents viruses, but I stated eariler that it can EASILY be prevented with proper research and procedures. I've heard its good for multimedia, but I'm quite sure a PC can do whatever a Mac can. Sure different programs are used but they do the job right?

Sorry to get off subject but if someone can answer why Macs are better with details that we all can understand, I would be happy. I'm just tired of Mac people just saying that its just the best thing ever.

Ok update here. He says the price is $1600.00 but that he gets a $200.00 mail in rebate and an Ipod. So his actual price in the end would be arround $1200.00

tell him to go for it. im not like completely in love with mac (after all, i use a PC at home) but i believe for functionality and ease of use, Macs are the best. I would go with the MacBook, except under one condition. If he's a gamer, do not get a MacBook. go for something Dell or Toshiba-made. I also like the Fujitsu Lifebook series, for as little as they are used...
