E6600 build

Thread Starter
I'm aiming for a high mid-range-ish computer here.

Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 5
Mobo: DFI INFINITY P965-S
Video Card: EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
CPU: Core 2 Duo E4300 (1.8GHz)
RAM: 2x1GB of G. Skill DDR2-800

Everything else will be the same as it is now.
Also (in case I made some stupid choices here), let it be noted that I'm still not the most experienced with computer hardware.

I would get 2x1GB of G. Skill DDR2-800 Ram for $105. They overclock like crazy, come in 1 gig sticks, and are great for the price. Also, I would consider getting a cheaper case for your system and upgrading your Graphics Card.

Will you be overclocking?

Alrighty, that's definitely the RAM that I'll be going for now. And yeah, the case is pretty expensive, but it's just so cool. I suppose I could just use my current one if I had to, but I really don't like it...

Yeah, I'm definitely going to be overclocking.

You could easily overclock with the stock cooler, up to 3.2GHz if necessary. I'd recommend getting an E4320 over an E6600 on such a tight budget, though. Then, I would recommend upgrading to an eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 320MB Graphics Card.

That's a great case for the price. With an E4320 you could afford to upgrade that 8600GTS to an 8800GTS. And, I would overclock that E4320 to about 2.8GHz (400x7). You will run games much, much better with an 8800GTS and 2GB of Ram versus an 8600GTS and 1GB of Ram.

Really? An E4320 with an 8800 GTS? It seems like that's not a good enough CPU for that kind of video card... meh, but, like I said, I'm not quite what you would call a master at this.

An E4320 has the same amount of cache as an E6600, so, when at 2.4GHz they are identical in every test and game, because they are the same.
