Sound Gone...???

Thread Starter
Ok this has me baffled...

I just finished lapping my freezer and hs, well when I put it all back together and started her up my sound is gone and it's not seeing my speakers at all...And she's clocked back to normal settings for the summer...

I don't even get that sound you get when you unplug or plug in the speakers...

Is there a way I could have screwed up my sound card uninstalling/installing my hs/freezer...If so how can I check to make sure that's it...

Other then that I'm at a loss, and have never bought a sound card/installed one before...Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks...

try reinstalling the drivers and then check the device manager and troubleshoot from there.

Open the beast up and make sure your sound card is in all the way. Happened to me once and I was baffled for quite some time.

This might sound really really retarded but are you sure the sound isn't MUTED? I remember back in the day of using my parents' Dell, I accidentally hit the mute button and could not figure out wth was up for like 30 minutes. I reinstalled drivers, reseated the card, and finally I looked in the sound options and BAM, muted.

It's not muted as ever since I powered her back up there's no sound program anymore...I used to get the whole string of options for sound now only one Wave and it's not muted either...

I used to have this really cool MSI sound gump for messin with the sound, gone...

I've tried everything and nothing is working...And being an onboard card it's still attached...

I think I'm just going to go to the PX tomorrow and grab a pci sound card, nothing special...

Thanks again for all the help, this is really weird tho huh...

Gah, this happened to me too once; I don't remember how I fixed it though... OnBoard sound rarely fails... I don't think you need a new sound card, there's got to be a way to fix this.

Did you go on the MSI website? Maybe they have a topic about that in some troubleshooting section (assuming they have one)

I found the supposed drivers on MSIs website but it on the site it says v5.10, but when I go to install the drivers it says v3.99 and doesn't work at all...

Sound cards are cheap enough so instead of giving myself an headache I'm heading to the PX here in a sec to get a new one...

Thanks again guys for your help...

Did you check in your bios to see if you have onboard sound enabled/disabled?

My sound card wouldn't work when I had onboard sound enabled and vise versa.
