Connecting 2 routers

Thread Starter
I have a Linksys WRT54G(Wireless w/4 port switch) and BEFSX41(Wired 4 port switch). I have linked the two routers together before(disabling DHCP and all that) with the WRT54G as main and BEFSX41 as secondary. I was wondering if it can be done the other way around.

Can I use the BEFSX41 as DHCP server and main router, and still use wireless on the WRT54G(with the DHCP disabled on the WRT54G)?

I believe you can if you go into the WRT's setup and change it's operating mode?

it may be possible to do that, look into putting your Linksys into ad hoc mode. basically it will turn the router into an extension of the other router and with wireless capability. Im not to familior with that model linksys so i don't know if the GUI is robust enough to handle that or not. P.S you will likely need to do this from the HTTP gui not the CD gui

You can, but why? Do you just need the extra ports, you should be able to pick up a plain switch (or even a hub) without spending too much.

yeah I need the extra ports, and i was testing to see if maybe my router was taking out my modem constantly. I found out it was my modem so i don't need to do this mow. Thanks for the replies.
