New to Overclocking

Thread Starter
I just put together my first rig and i'm having trouble overclocking. My system is:

WinXP Pro
Intel C2D E6600
Zalman 9700 CPU Cooling Fan
2GB OCZ DDR2 800
eVGA 8800GTX
eVGA 122-CK-NF67-T1 680i
Samsung Spinpoint T 500GB SATA
CM Stacker 830 Evo

I have all of the latest drivers for my GPU and my Mobo and i can't get ntune to work properly. It won't let me change voltages or fan speeds and the slightest change to my clock speeds causes unstability, freezing and sometimes a blue screen. Any ideas for a noob to OCing?

Not too many people here would recomend overclocking with software. The best way to do it is through your bios. I'm not familiar with that mobo so maybe someone else can help you with the settings you'll need to change.

PS welcome to the forum and fill out your system specs here: http://www.overclock.net/specs.php

Definitely do your overclocking through the BIOS. It is the best way to do it. Truthfully, software OS programs will cause massive instability. I would get rid of it all together.

Your processor can definitely do 333Mhz with a stock multiplier and stock voltages. Try that out and then generally increase voltages and FSB as needed. Let me know how it goes.
