Anything based on the VF-900 design won't be able to handle the heat output of the HD2900XT, not even the X1950XT. You want to go water cooling, or wait for a much more robust air cooler for the 2900XT.

Actually it doesn't matter on the heat, it matters on how much heat in Watts it output. The VF900 just can't handle that shear amount of energy. Read up before you criticize.

I don't know how you can say the VF900 can't handle a 1950xt when I've got a VF 700 taking care of the marginally hotter 1900XT in my bro's rig... overclocked at that. I certainly hope you're not talking about something you've no idea about either?

I have a VF900 on my x1950XT and I'm very disappointed. I ended up reading a review for it when being used on a x1950XT after I got it (and with testing it myself the temps were terrible). It explained how the heat pipes in the cooler cannot complete the cooling cycle after a certain temperature, which then allows the card to heat up even more. I was so disappointed with it I just ordered a Thermaltake tide water to replace the VF900.

Your VF700 doesn't have any heat pipes so thats why it does a good job. So in conclusion, sure the FC-ZV9 may (not sure though ) fit the 2900xt but I wouldn't get it. I'd go with some type of water cooling.

2900XT, not 1900

well for all u guys with the x1950xt's that have problems with the VF series cooling those GPU's, i have here a picture of the 8800 GTX being cooled by the FC-ZV9 which is just like the VF-900. if it can cool that im sure it can cool an x1950 xt...

so i think it would be able to handle the heat.
