AGP Voltage?

Thread Starter
My AGP voltage is currently 1.5v, what happens if I higher it?

Will it help my northbride or my gpu?
Will I be able to OC higher?

1) You will burn out your card(s).
2) Neither.
3) No. That would just supply the card with more voltage (note, not really more power). However, the card itself regulates power to the memory and GPU. They will recieve the same amount of power even if you increase AGP voltage.
Once again...

ok, tought so, about that regulator
I was just wondering cuz you don't see much about the agp voltage.
Thx + rep+

If you want to increase the card voltage, check around if the 7800GT voltmods apply to your 7800GS card.

I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but I've had a few people tell me that upping AGP voltage actually helps your NB with high bus speeds. One guy was running his at 1.65v and had been for awhile. No problems yet.

Here's what another guy said-"Personal experience shows upping agp voltage helps....dothan loved the agp voltage increased couldn't pass 2.4ghz with stock agp voltage....at 1.6v agp voltage the system let me push the fsb further nothing else altered...at 1.7v system was slightly unstable...at 1.8v system was totally stable upto 2.9ghz+
if i decreased agp voltage system would hang or stability would become a factor "

Some links to tech support at OCZ shows the same thing:

Up the voltage. Just give it a shot and go from there.

BTW- MCH=NB

I never tried it, don't have the guts, but I have heard of people who recommend it. Just not worth burning up my card to me.

I'm planning on giving it a shot soon. Got a IQYHA 2800 XP-m coming in soon. Once I a XP disc for a repair install I'll start working on the OC and see what happens. Not planning on doing anything crazy with the AGP voltage though.
