Graphical glitches with 7600GT AGP in Vista

I'm really not sure if I'm posting in the right forum, but here goes :

Hey guys,

I've been getting these weird graphic glitches while using my Club3D 76000GT AGP on Windows Vista Ultimate. I have tried a series of drivers,(158.18 , 158.24, 160.03, and most recently, 160.04) and no luck on solving the problem =( Right now I'm using 158.24.
Can anyone help me find out if it is a driver problem, overheating problem ?
I run all games in XP, and no glitches and no problems =|
The 1st picture is from StarForce : Rogue Universe, and the 2nd one, is while running Vista's Solitaire!
Everything is in their stock settings. No overclocking to the pc, nor the Graphics card

These are just to examples, because no matter what game I run, I always get this =\\

Thanks in advance for you help guys

Everything is in their stock settings. No overclocking to the pc, nor the Graphics card

Well to me it looks like you might have a bad pixel pipe. Have you tried it in XP since it started to artifact? Also I had problems with my 7600GT in vista and I just went and used my XP drivers I think 93.71. Good luck and keep me posted.

Yeah I'm running dual boot on my pc. Have Windows Vista Ultimate and Xp Pro Sp2.
When running XP, games play fine with no problems whatsoever. Try the same game in Vista, loads of glitches =| Gonna try and use the xp drivers on vista and see what happens. Can't get any worse

Just did a couple more tests, and found out that the problem isn't from overheating. While in Full load, the temps never got past 65ºC, and that's with the stock cooler.Getting real desperate here, because I just don't know what else to do =|

I have a similar problem with the same graphics card - though only at the startup and login screen and when windows prompt me for confirmation to continue with an installation. Read a post suggesting installing the newest version of the vista driver from nvidia again, however, I cannot confirm that it works untill I get home from work ;-)

I you get it to work, please let me know

Okay - so I've downloaded the same version of the vista driver from nVidia, however the problem persisted. What I noticed, on the other hand, was that during the uninstall the glitches disappeared, that is, no glitches during login or logout.
So my solution to the problem was to uninstall the drivers from nVidia and only use the Vista-native drivers.

Looking forward to new working drivers from nVidia

Hmm - really annoying to say the least - however with the current speed nVidia is spitting out driver updates, hopefully by end july we'll have a driver which acutally works

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.
I found out on the Nvidia forums, that the problem is related to my SiS chip's drivers in Vista. ( Full thread in here : http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s...ic=32131&st=20 )
Unfortunately, I tried installing the old drivers that came with my motherboard ( 1.17 version I believe), but no luck. It got even worse. Whenever I started a game, it all went "rainbowish" and would stall my computer every 5 seconds or so.
I also tried with the 1.21A version, which is the most recent, but still no dice =|
SiS hasn't released a proper driver for Windows Vista.
Don't know if that's the case with u guys or not.
Right now, apparently my problem is fixed.
Last night I installed the latest SiS AGP driver ( 1.21A), and reboot the pc. The glitches where still there, even with the latest. This mornig, when to Device Manager in the Control Panel, and uninstalled the driver. Before rebooting, I reinstalled it using the original one from the Vista Dvd. It now shows an error, that says that the driver is there, but Windows can't start it. Reboot my computer, try to run a game, and everything's fine! At 1st, the game was very choppy and stuttering. I changed the resolution and hertz in the game menu, and from there on, all is well.So basically to get the games running correctly, I now have the AGP disabled

Glad your rig is working - quite envious to be honest. My motherboard is based on a VIA chipset : VIA PT880 Pro/Ultra, so your fix probably won't work for me - arrrghh
