Overclocking my 7950GT

Thread Starter
Ok so I got a Zalman Fatal1ty FC-ZV9 VGA cooler yesterday. I installed the ramsinks and mounted the fan using AS5. Oh, and the ramsinks stuck just fine, I even unstuck one twice to get the position right.

Anyways, I started overclocking this baby yesterday, using Riva Tuner. Stock speeds for the 7950GT are 550/700, for reference. So, I can get 663/850 out of it, and it doesn't get hotter than 60C on full load during a 3DMark05. This is showing the Zalman is doing great, as stock XFX cooling ran 620/750 at around 85C.

Anyways, I want to push the clocks past 663/850, but it wont let me. It keeps saying the drivers failed to pass the internal test. What exactly does this mean? And can I somehow push the clocks further ahead, seeing as how the card is still running very cool?

Thanks.

im not very knoledgeable on Nvidia (or spelling, aparently), but i would say to look around for some 3rd party drivers (warcat, Omega)

and an alternative would be to search around for the 'best drivers for 7950gt' in google or whatever you use.

srry i can't be of direct help

Youre gonna need to use some other program to overclock the card. I use rivatuner. It works great and is very easy to use.

ATITool. Forget any other recommendations. ATITool does the work for you, and it will always be stable as long as you let it do it's thing properly (old detection method).

Good luck.
