No. I used the standard installation for K8.
I did the standard installation and I tightned my screws until I could barely move and twist the heatsink. Just to kind of gauge how tight it was. This may have spread the AS5 some too. Mine loads up to about 36-38c.

yea the BT is one hard customer - I had to take the mobo out of my case -my hands are hueg like xbox though so it was hard for me to get in there to tighten it up. And then installing it on my naked venice was even worse - all that weight balancing on a tiny bare core, haha it was terrible - I could NOT get good contact for the life of me so I gave up on the BT - I know shifty used it better than I ever had.

Ok. Now, the idle temps look more reasonable.
I'll check back in with load temps tomorrow.

Results? And what vCore are you using.

I'm guessing you're using the VX? LOL, sorry, but it's worse than the standard BT if you upgraded the fan on it. Lap your CPU and your HS and you'll get awesome temps. I get 29c idle and 40c load. That's better than 56c load and 45c idle with my 7000B-Cu.

*EDIT*

LOL that post is written like the Lex Luthor joke...
"Lex Luthor took forty cakes. That's as much as 4 10's!

And that's terrible"

Due to the poor access of the screws, I chose to run 2'' screws up from the bottom with the default base then use nuts to tighten down the BT.
NOTE: Most cases won't llow room for the screw heads when running them up as studs from the bottom and will require them to be ground or file down to the point of just enough slot left to screw them in.

The "real" way to mount is pretty much what you say. The screws has to be on the backplate, sticking up, where you use a washer and a large brass nut to hold down the backplate, and then the small alu nuts to hold it down. I used another way, and that's to reverse the small and large nuts.
The large brass nuts are easier to get a grip on (lol), so you can basically just tighen it much more that way.

what about load temperatures, what vcore and overclock are you using?

my 3800 x2 at 2.9 with 1.5vcore idles at around 38 and loads at 50-55C which is a bit scary, just ordered some high cfm fans to help. Just wondering as load temps are more important then idle
