IHS removal on 3600 brisbane.

Thread Starter
I have a couple 3600's and I might try to take the IHS off of 1 and see how it drops the temps. Any suggestions\\input would be great. I think I will make a FAQ\\Guide out of this when I am done.

Thanks ahead of time!

Basicaly it's no different that the 939 IHS removal. There glued on the AM2 X2 3600+.
Cut to deep and you destroy the unit!
Someone posted theres removed just the other day with pics.

I believe AMD started soldering them to the core. So it might not be the best idea. If you're willing to sacrifice one, then give it a try.

Nothing went wrong, I'm just saying it's not worth the taking off the IHS because its not worth the time, energy, & money. You might see a 4C-7C drop in temps but thats only if you successfully manage to remove the IHS. Theres always better alternatives to cooling like lapping and w/c kits.

i thought the IHS's that said "(C) 2005 AMD" were soldered on...and if they said "(C) 2001 AMD" it was okay to take it off
