8800 GTS Ideal Temps

Thread Starter
Afternoon- I feel like a complete noob for asking (I am)... I have searched.... but I am curious to know what the going core temps are for and 8800gts while OC'd under load.

Currently I have my evga OC'd to 660 / 1190.
While scanning for artifacts with ATI tool I level out around 77*c under scanning load. Idel I hover around 60*c.

While gaming (FSX) I land around 65*c.

I am just curious to know where I should push my GPU. It appears there is still room for go but I don't want to blast the temps. I have read mid 80's is OK but stay below 90's. Is this the case? Am I safe to artifact scan at 85*c?

You help appreciated. I am striving for the 11k 3dmark06 score. I am only 300 short so it shouldn't be too much of a stretch but temps are my main concern.

Thanks in advance!

77c is perfectly fine and normal. Try to keep it below 90c if you can.

Also, set your fan speed to 100%, that really helps a lot

Cool - well then I will strive for a few more degrees.

I ran the "find core max" on ATI tool. I don't know how much to trust that but by that test I have 30 mHz to go. No telling where the Memory will stop. I didn't test on ATI

How much can I trust the results on ATI tool?

How much does memory speed effect temps of the core? none to little?

Come one 11k. Should be no problem.

I got 11,156 at 3.6GHz and 630 / 985

Memory temps should not affect temps at all. Maybe 1% absolute max

Yeah, I was told to losen my RAM timings to 5-5-5-16 and up the volts to 2.3v max. Hoping this might improve the e6600 OC to 3.4 to 3.5. However, I have heard that for "B" stepping that 3.2 to 3.3 is about max I am going to land.

Good to hear 77 on load is ok. I will pinch a little more and see if I can get the both core/mem up.
