You realize neither Intel nor AMD rates their FSB accurately? Intel is quad-pumped, so 1333FSB would actually be 333FSB, and I'm not sure about how AMD rates their CPUs, but you can be assured that 1000FSB is only a marketing thing.

oh and CPUZ is known to screw up vcore readings when you OC. Even happens to me and I'm not even using phase or anything crazy.

Time to decide if I want an E6850 or a Q6600 next month.
I hit 4148 on air. But that was 1.6 vcore and very unstable.

5 ghz though...wow.

The base speed of AMD CPU has been 200 mhz since the Athlon XP days and still remains that way today...

no way to compare the likes when buss speeds are different...like when AMD's were just hitting 200 with the XP-3000's and 3200's and the P4's were still 166 buss speed...not a real comparison...

AMD claims 2000 fsb but that because thats the speed of the HTT (hypertransport) which does nothing in the way of performance.

when all the AM2 hype was in the pipes before it was release they were suposed to have a 300 mhz bus speed...but that never happened...but the C2D got a big increase in theirs...thats why they run so well...

Not so much the Speed in MHZ but the Bus speed..333mhz bus speed is way faster than 200mhz bus speed...

AMD needs to get with the game...C2D's hitting a honest 500mhz bus speed and AMD very rarely can hit 350mhz bus speed...

The prices are set to drop to $163 for that E6550, $183 for the E6750, and $266 for the E6850 on the 22nd of July, right? Or are they launched at those prices and zipzoomfly is just making extra profit?

Well, if Intel sells them to ZipZoomFly for 163$, 183$, and 266$ each and they are reselling them for more than that it's a fair assumption to make that they are raising the resell price to make a decent profit on each chip.

That's the upgrade I'm trying to figure out, too... I'm sure, though, if I sit on it and give the decision time to play out for everyone else, it'll be clear as crystal.

3.6Ghz stable on a 7x multiplier is insane. I'm wondering about the other two chips though, maybe they'll hit the same for cheaper.

But to those deciding between a Q6600 and an E6850, remember that a Q6600 basically needs to be watercooled to go anywhere.

Those prices you listed are just intels prices, e-tailers and retailers are free to bump them up a few bucks to actually make a profit and keep their business running

I just wanted to know if intel is going to release them at MSRP of $163/183/266, or if we will have to wait until July 22nd.
