Tell him to put only 1 ram stick, no hdd (it will not prevent the boot, but give an error after the POST), his video card, CPU and make sure that the 4 pin and 20 pin power plugs are in the mobo..

BountyHead: How did this work out for you? Here's a tidbit. Have him remove all the ram and then power up. If there are no beeps at this point, it is not the ram but the cpu. If the cpu functions correctly, you should get the beeps.

This is not to say the cpu is necessarily faulty but the pre-loaded bios may be an early revision which does not "yet" support the processor. Good luck! I am actually having similar issues.
