kab2e not oc'ing so great

hello all, i havent been on in a while, but now i got a new cooler for my cpu and have stareted OC'in!

alrighty, i got a athlon 64 3700+ san diego KAB2E stepping, i dunno if its the older or newe one, bought it in febuary '06 if that tells you anything about it. Highest overclock i could get and boot to windows to verify, was http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=207426

currently i got it overclocked here, and it is stable http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=207826

heres my specs:
Athlon 64 3700+ san diego stepping KAB2E
1 gig ram (2x512mb patriot dual channel, stable up to DDR480)
DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI DR
cooling: coolermaster hyper pro 6+
400W Hipro PSU (yes, i know it sucks)
2 80gb raid 0 hdd's

I am a little suprised that this is my highest stable clock, because reading up on this steppind, its sopposed to be quite good, overclocking to 2.8 or 3 ghz. (http://www.overclock.net/faqs/101138...san-diego.html)

So only getting 2640 out of it at 1.5v is a little suprising. What i want to know is if i want to push the voltage any higher. Temps are great wth the new cooler, 29c idle, 43C load, so i got room to grow still. So the big question is how much more voltage i can apply safely, or with negligible risk, to get this clock up higher. So far the extra voltage has only let me get from a 234 to 240 fsb, which really isnt very much.

Is there anything im missing? what next?

Try to loosen your ram timings or set your ram devider back some. Also you can give it a little more juice but watch the temps.

AFTER THOUGHT: maybe bump voltage on ram by 1 notch if it is O.C.'d at all

ram has been running stable at 240, and i put it on a divider after that, but a lot of my overclocking has had it waay down with the dividers. i have upped the voltage on the ldt and chipset a little, and thats only gotten me to 2650.

i would suggest lowering the cpu multi and try ocing again, as you may find it overclocks higher that way, with a 10x multi my cpu wouldnt boot past 2500Mhz, lowered to 9x and can reach 3Ghz if werent for temperatures. Just an idea but may be worth a shot
