Dell running horrible. What are my options? - Page 3

if it ran smoother after loading then that would be because it isnt creating as much heat because it isnt working as hard. at least thats what im getting out of this. we still havent heard how it was working before hand. and or if this is just second hand story from the owner. everyone who cant fix their own pc says it worked great before.

Ah yes, that would make more sense, so my throttling idea still stands firm

oh wait, no. lol.
Oh no, I feel so bad about my findings now :/.

It certainly seems as if something was jarred, but even after finding out what it may be he should run antivirus and msconfig to help with his boot times. That certainly would be a problem with his ram.

I have not been told. I asked the woman and she said she didn't know and would find out, but AFAIK hasn't yet.

And to the guys telling me to check start up, I did. There are only like three things on start up command.

EDIT: I will talk to the woman tomorrow and make sure to get an answer on the stability of the computer before the mishap.

Oh and thanks for everyones help

I will give you that you are correct on some of your other statements...

But damn you were out of the ballpark on this one lol

*and the H2C is ugly as sin*
actually, they are fantastic.

Toms Hardware just reviewed the H2C last week - and it outperformed every computer they have EVER tested. (http://www.geardigest.com/2007/05/22...ool/index.html)

Of course you can build it yourself cheaper. I build computers as a side job - I know that. But comparing Dells to Alienware, WidowPC, or VoodooPC (all the luxury/performance vendors) and Dells tend to be cheaper, and, in my opinion, look better (Much less like a home-built cobbled together setup).

Also, you CAN O/C the dell H2C - but the FSB is locked. However, at Tom's hardware they hit 14 x 266 stable, I believe it was. Also, you can get the Dell wiht DDR 1066 Corsair Dominator now.

I don't understand why all the high school snobs feel cool by knocking Dell?

Have you even looked at a modern Dell? How fantastic the cable management is? How awesome the BTX Mobo is the front cooling?

Bah, nevermind, most people on here are simple minded.

Cheap, DELL made parts.
ZZZOOOMMMGGGG ROFFLELELEODL...will you quit it with that crap.

There are other uses for computers besides gaming. I know this may come as a surprise to all the pre-pubescent middle-schoolers on here, but some people want a computer to do productivity tasks and not "PWN TEh N00bS."

Simply no other other company makes a comparable economy computer. I know because I just ordered 10 for the company I work for. The cases are VERY solid and easy to open. The power supply leaves room for expansion. The cable management is very solid, and the drives are all SATA.

I got a 3600+/1GB ram/160GB W/windows XP for under $450 per workstation.

You simply cannot match that price yourself, with a one year warranty. Personally, I don't care if the only options for video cards are 1 and 2 generations old - that's not what I'm talking about.

Most "parts" when you build a PC, Have a warranty... sometimes longer, acutally, usually longer than 1 year.

You keep pushing this thread off topic, and it ends here. I am done.
The majority of this site knows dells are ~ok~ for most people.
This is OCN... we don't do just ~ok~.
Dells are great, for people who don't know PC's.
I could rebuild that $7 H2C for a lot less.

Now, back ON topic... where is this guy with the Dell?
I really think it's throttling now. he needs to come checkup on this thread and then check his heatsink!
