My New Computer - I need help!

Thread Starter
Its custom built with Q6600 quad core CPU. Before I ask my questions, here are the specs:

- Nvidia nforce SLi 680i MB
- Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz
- 6GB PC-6400 DDR2 800mhz
- Vista Ultimate 32bit
- 2x250gb RAID 0
- Nvidia 8800 GTX

**BIOS SETTINGS**

TEMPS:
- CPU: 55C / 131F
- Board: 43C / 109F
- MCP: 58C / 135F

VOLTS:
- CPU Core: 1.28v
- CPU FSB: 1.19v
- Memory: 1.85v
- nForce SPP: 1.2v
- nForce MCP: 1.5v

CHIP INFO:
- CPU MHZ: 2400.0mhz
- FSB: 1066.7mhz
- CPU Multiplier: 9x

FAN SPEED:
- CPU FAN SPEED: 1454RPM

- My question is, can I overclock any of this, the cpu, or the video card? Also, it seems that my computer is not using all the ram, it only shows 2.8GB in the memory registry.

Dont Oc that cpu its already pretty warm.
Edit: if you really want to overclock you CPU...buy one of these... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835154001 - about 70 bucks but its a good investment.

U have to have XP pro to run more then 2Gigs of RAM. And u should but an aftermarket cooler for ur CPU, like an Ultra-120 Extreme, or wait for the IFX-14.

He means XP Pro 64bit

32-Bit operating systems will only register a total of 4gb of RAM between everything in your computer.

A 64-bit operating system will register around 8 terabytes I think. The best you can do is 3gb-ish in a 32bit OS like XP home or XP Pro (regular).

There is a 64-bit XP Pro, and 64-Vista. There's also many many many Linux distros that support 64-bit.

so then what will happen to my other 3gb that i cant use? will they suck up the power supply, or eventually just die out and burn because of voltage. i dont get it, i have 6gb and can only use 2.8gb. this is such a waste.

Just remove the unused ram and store it so it can be used when you upgrade to a better operating system.

i think xp 64 liits you to 32gb instead of the 18.4 exabits that it could support. i think some linux distros allow for more than 32gb.
