Not professional. It's a league with subdivisions for each game that are Open, Invite, Intermediate etc.

www.caleague.com

It's a league for a ton of games, free too.

1. Free for anyone to participate in. Usually easiest to find a team using a combination of mIRC, Xfire, and/or Ventrilo.

2. No prizes in CAL, teams/players just play for e-rep . If making some cash sparks your interest, CEVO ( http://www.cevo.com/ ) is a fast-growing gaming league that competes with CAL. You'll run into more serious and dedicated teams in CEVO being that theres an entry fee of around ~15 dollars USD, and grand prizes up in the thousands.

I've been playing in both for years now, and they're both a blast, especially when you have a chill team to play with.

Indeed. Pubbing is fun for maybe the first few months that you buy the game, after that you really stop feeling challenged, or it gets repetitive, which is why I joined cal

CAL = Cyberathlete Amateur League. It's the "opposite" of CPL, which is the Cyberathlete Professional League, and it is simply as it is, for amateurs (those who don't get money)
I played in a professional league (like CEVO), and I did get a few money off it, but it's not that much.
