HT is Hyper-Threading Technology. What it basically does is takes one single core and gives it a synthetic second core, which will give you a approximate %40 clock speed increase if you want a number to put on it. Such as, I have a 3.2ghz P4 HT and it's effective clock is 4.48ghz. 3200 X .40=1280 + 3200.

The number looks big and pretty, but it's pretty deceiving. Any C2D will slaughter it.

No, that's not how it works. Dual core and/or HT does not = 100% performance increase. HT/DC (Dual core) is just simply better to multitasking.

I didn't say it did. I said it did a %40 hypothetically, if you want to put a number on it.

I don't know if a percentage can really be put on it. It will run some things faster, others slower.

Observe...

By no means is this really an accurate representation of what your performance will be with a P4 HT CPU, but you see what I'm saying.
Virtually its rated as this, but when put under stress it will not perform that well.
