Phenom delayed to Q108. Top FX speed 2.4-2.6GHz - Page 3

ATI said their card would destroy the 8800's. It came out like 8 months late and has a marginal performance gain. Phenom is supposed to destroy the C2D. lets see how that works out.

AMD knows they need more time to work out the processor, they ain't releasing something that no one is going to buy if its going to lack performance against the competitor.

thats the best damn idea I heard yet! I bet people would buy one for 150 even and amd could sell a ton, why cant they do that? iam sure with simple bios updates it would work in existing am2 boards.

I totally would buy an X4 3600+ in a heartbeat... I wonder if they still would OC well due to the added heat on the chip though.

No, I think you are the one that makes no sense.

Have you seen the review of Barcelona? It loses by more than 58% to a mid-range Q6600. By the time Barcelona comes out, it will be competing with Penryn. Penryn has a 20-30% gain on Kensfield.

I think you are the one that is a fanboy. Sideburns is just using logic. (I seem to remember Sideburns use to have an Opty 165)

We are talking about the Phenom here.
Barcelona is a server CPU.

Where does the sense in that come if your not on topic?
People here are just bashing things out of mid-air its annoying, we can't have a reasonable thread without someone bashing or flaming AMD/ATI.

Barcelona is the same thing as Phenom. It is just named branded for servers.

I addressed Phenom in the same way I addressed Barcelona. It cannot compete with current Kentsfield processors let alone competing with Intel performance and price of Penyrn / Kentfeild during Q4 07 / Q1 08.

I am sorry if the cold hard fact doesn't fancy you. But it is fact. Phenom doesn't stand a chance to the stock speed, overclocked speed, or price / performance for an enthusiast.

However, as the original Athlon64 launch showed, AMD is certainly capable of surprising us and we certainly hope they do. For all of us who have been crying for Barcelona benchmarks, you really don't want to see them yet.
