Yeah that CPU can O.C. over 3 Ghz all day. A lot of people hit 3.4 pretty easy.

ok thats good new to know it can past 3.0 but what about the other factors like does it heat up more?

You just have to make sure to buy better cooling. Right now, stick to Air cooling and get your self like a Thermaltake Big Typhoon (not the VX version) and a good 70+ CFM fan.

that should take care of your temps well enough.

the best way to learn about overclocking is to read all you can..Spend a week and just read read read. Read what people have done, read what they post about overclocking, and read the fundamentals of overclocking. Once you learn or at leased understand some of that stuff, then you will be more comfortable and you wont be in the dark so much. Plus, look at what other people have and what they have done with it. For example...Check out the e6600. Many people overclock that puppy 3.0 ghz plus easy and it is cheaper than the e6700

Bottom line- If you run any component faster than it is made to go, It get hotter. With CPU's it's usually only noticeable when you add voltage. With your chip you could hit 3 Ghz with the stock cooler on stock volts. Which means no worry for heat.

Just keep your temps below 60 degrees at load.

Whenever you OverClock a processor it will increase the heat.

Hi.

There are many people here that will be more than happy to assist you in your endeavor.

If I may so bold: Get your components, assemble them and install the OS. Get your system running smoothly at stock speeds.

Become familiar with the BIOS and the variables of overclocking. It is advisable that the Oc'er have a fundamental understanding of what is happening when settings are changed.

See ya soon!
