Q:I just bought a new ATI Radeon HD series graphics adapter and 3DMark06 freezes during the splash-screen. What is wrong and how can I fix this?
A:This is a known issue and we have been able to reproduce it in our test lab. The problem lays in an DLL which we use to detect the graphics cards' core and memory speeds. We are working on an update to correct this issue after which all Futuremark benchmarks should run fine with the latest offerings from all IHV's. Until then you can work around this issue either by renaming the "Direcpll.dll" file (found in %WINDIR%system32FuturemarkMSC) to something else, or you can run the benchmark using the -nosysteminfo command line. Please note that if you use the -nosysteminfo command line, you will not be able to publish the result online. Futuremark will inform all its users when the update is available!

with you guys using upping the voltage how are you doing so? right now I'm trying ati tools to change the voltage but it only seems to work after I set the speeds. if I change the voltage then up the speeds it resets the voltage and fan back to default. sadly this is only enabling me to get as high as what ever 1.1v can take me without my card crashing. doesn't mean stable just at least stable enough to not crash the card then I up the voltage from there to prevent artifacts. if it wasn't for that I know I could get into the 900 range right now for clock speeds.

hey, I really need an honest answer.

I know the pro can be OC'd to and past XT's speeds...so it is better than a GTS 320/640? Also are the 2950Pros supposed to be around the same price as the 2900 Pros? I'm interested in the Gladiator variant.

How well do you think it'll do against the new 112 stream processor GTS 640s?

Pro? Forget it, the 2900XT Pro is a 2900XT GPU but yield problem but if you're lucky you get the full 2900XT speed or even past it.
2950 Pro is a lot slower.

Gladiator series? Lets see. 2950 Pro, 2950 XT, and 2950 X2X. From lowest to highest.

And new 8800GTS? lol, ATI will never let Nvidia slip again.

you should read up more on the pro's. it doesn't seem to be luck to get one past xt speeds. so far I have yet to see a pro that can not hit past 800mhz for the core.

Hmm, must be bad luck then, I've seen a Pro card speed can be equal as the XT but cannot hit as high as XT.

look around at the 2900 pro info here on teh forums. there are many members just here who have managed to get from 833-890 for teh core speed at I believe the stock voltage of 1.15. it doesn't seem to be luck to hit these speeds but the norm. where is this card that isn't getting up to that range cause he really must have bad luck as these seem to be nothing more the an xt with a bios saying 600mhz core even if it can do more then that

2900 Pro and XT are the same (at least based on reports that I've seen and my personal expirience). It's possible that ATI will start binning chips and selling higher end as XT and lower end as Pro, but for now it's not happenings. My Pro can hit 890 core (and maybe few more).

I do not think that anyone knows exactly how 2950Pros will perform or be priced. So it's not a good time to compare it to anything. 2900 XT/Pro is better then 8800 GTX in most cases, but is weaker then 8800 GTS if playing in DX10 or with AA. The weakness might have something to do with drivers, and if so will probably be fixed eventually.

Re-installed drivers, then i re-installed 3DMark06.

Came up with an error in the install, something about the DLL file couldn't be located. Now every time i try to even start 3D06 i get an error saying 'invalid bitmap file format'

I just want to do ONE damn 3D06 run

I've never hit over 6K in my life! I wana see it

On a good note! My card seems to run strangely cool! It's awesome. I'm only on 37% fan and i'm idling at 48C and loading at 65-70C.

I thought these things run hot? This is about the same temps are my 7900GTO

There is a fix for that. You have to go into the Windows/System32/Futuremark/MSC folder and change out the Dll there with a patched one. Modki should have it linked in the first post.
