Great info CD. I never know that the Liquid Nitrogen OCing is so hard. Although I'm a real noob in OCing, means havn't even pass the air level yet.
Can extreme OCing blow your hardware?

On a regular basis.

LN2 opens up a level of Vcore and CPU speed but if the LN2 boils off or w/e POOF.

I have never messed with it but I have read a number of threads detailing it. THe design of the LN2 pots is different for HD 2900XTs too. The much higher thrmal output meant some new design which I have no clue about.

It's fascinating stuff to read about but I don't see myself breaking any WRs...got too many other interests.

Do you actually have to adjust the voltage and all that? Or just using CCC will be enough for me?
I mean I'm planning to get a HR-03/R600 cooler and planning to OC it.

I think messing with volts on air is a good way to smoke a card. Leave them alone.

AMD GPU tool seems to be the favored OC device. But you can use CCC

Thank you CD, I was worried that I need to do voltages and all that and blow my one and only R600 (pretty expensive when I bought it that time). Might as well try to find which retailer is selling the HR-03/R600 now in Australia.

Having trouble getting linux to work after installing all updates on a clean install.

Graphics card the problem?

Any fix for this yet, all I get is a black screen (flickering in and out of grey/black) saying the mode is not supported?

Wow...linux and megaGFX...never even thought about putting those two together.

Try posting for help in the Linux area too.

What goes wrong? A lot of major linux distros do not support the 2900 series. Some do, Knoppix for example will detect it and open x.

If you've got a new motherboard with a SATA hard drive, you might have a really tough time. I just avoid linux. I want to like it but there are to many problems.

hey man hows it goin.

a really good online store that has a good chance of having the HR03/R600 cooler is www.itsdirect.com.au

or you could also look at www.techbuy.com.au

I've bought from both and can tell you, they are good and reliable stores.
