The HD 2900XT Info Thread - Page 38

I know this is off topic but i am reading a review http://techreport.com/reviews/2007q3...b/index.x?pg=5 of a hd 2900xt 1gb gddr4 and it seems to be getting smoked by nvidia stuff. Not to bash but i am just wondering if you guys have noticed seemingly poor performance or is it just the review?

lol. It just seems that everything with ATI vs Nvidia is an uphill battle. I plan on getting a 2900xt though.

Thread Starter
Those were using the 7.6 Catalyst drivers which suffered from quite a few problems. With the 7.8 Catalyst Drivers the HD 2900XT perform really well and even enable 24x AA.

I see so many of these charts using setups similar to mine scoring way lower than I do. Kind of makes you wonder if they know what they're doing. Even with the 7.5's I was doing better in some games than most review sites.

The HD 2900XT performs on par with both GTS's and even the GTX's with some tweaking.

Agreed. People are so used to bashing ATI that even when they come out with a winner everyone complains it's too loud it's too hot it's too slow it's too expensive despite the fact that it is competitively placed and priced and shows far for more headroom and potential for improvement than anything Nvidia has out right now.

Everyone knows that Ultras are a joke for people with too much to spend...GTX is the way to go for top performance on Nvidia--and the latest WR attempts are showing that the 2900XT OCs like a madman and reaches the highest scores out there within a few points...

Now now CD, thats a lil harsh. Ultras have proven to be better Overclockers FOR BENCHING than their GTX lil siblings.

I do agree and always preach: GTX for Gaming, Ultras for benching. But the 2900's are better (right now) in VISTA. The 2900 runs my 24'LCD in max settings just fine.

I am a NviATI User now.
