Hmmm...that's odd, because IIRC, the 2900XT doesn't have UVD.

Well I apparently got a trojan last night so I flushed the drives and now am formatting XP...time for some real benchmarks now...

7.5 still the best for XP?

As nvidia are planning on releasing their new cards then i am stuck with this decision.

Wait until Nvidia relase the new cards so that the 8800GTX / ULTRA drops in price and get one of them.

OR

Get a 1gb 2900XT

My board is SLI which would mean if i went nvidia i have upgrade possibility.

IMHO Nvidia is the performance leader at this point and you having an SLI board further simplifies your decision. I hate wait, and I can't justify waiting 4-6 months for the release of something new, because in the computer world thats almost a generation of hardware. Something is always around the corner for you to "wait" on. Computers aren't an investment to maintain equity as depreciation is going to own you no matter what you do. If you are building now, buy what you can afford now. Waiting is overrated.

About the UVD:
I read that it was rebranded as AVIVO HD, and here is a graph of the CPU over about 5 minutes while playing Independance Day in 720P Blu-Ray (from a file, not a disc) It went from %0-12....my printscreen+paste didn't capture the movie too, so I just cropped the task manager part.

A little help here please with 3DMark06.
I owned a Sapphire HD 2900XT and I can't run 3DMark06 for some reason. Do I have to shut down two cores to run it? Since I'm having a Quad CPU. Specs are in my sig.

Go to the c:\\windows\\system32\\futuremark\\msc directory and rename or delete the file "direcpll.dll" if you install another 3Dmark like 03 or 05 you will have to do this again.

this should help

Thank you all, it looks like working now.
Weird I'm only scoring 9000+ with heavily multitasking at the time is that bad? I'm using 32bit XP Pro and 7.7 driver.
